I came across Reprisal last week. By Electrolyte, with music by Eric Skiff, Reprisal seemingly takes it cues from games like Populous and Mega lo Mania (both for the Amiga). While a god-esque type of game, the goal is to build up your little civilization, defend it and attack the other civilization within the little world.
Currently, Reprisal is in “pre-beta, pre-demo, just pixels” mode (as written by Electrolyte) and it already is a blast to play. The aesthetic, music and sound as a whole accompany a gameplay structure that is truly quite fun.
So far there are only two available levels and if you’re like me, at first it’ll take a little bit to get the feel of things and how they work within the environment. With abilities/powers such as terraforming the land, raining fire upon your enemies and flooding the entire environment, among others, there is a wide variety at your disposal. All of this is presented with a very smart menu/user interface system that makes finding what you want quick and easy… and it looks good as well.
I am looking extremely forward to the final version of the game. For now, you can play Reprisal by clicking HERE or head over to the dev-blog HERE to check out the progress. If you feel so inclined, I put together some gameplay footage that you can check out by clicking HERE.
