  • Max Payne 3 | Review (Xbox 360)

I stared back at the vile grimace from the man on the cover. This wretched, self-loathing and depressed pile of garbage was to entertain me for at least six hours. The controller shook and the credits rolled. Leaning back into my chair, I felt a sense of exhaustion and thoughts riddled my mind like Max’s bullet riddled body. Had Rockstar done what they set out to do? Or had their weird style got... more.
  • Blackberry Playbook Extravaganza!

At the start of this year, I somehow landed myself with a Blackberry Playbook for a rather cheap price (£169.99 or ~$265) and a whole wave of opportunity in the gaming space opened up. I've never been a big believer in the iOS or Android platforms, as actual 'games' are far and few between. But then you begin to realize that they aren't really made for long play sessions, just something to pick... more.
  • That Gamer Hub’s Game of the Year Awards!

2011 certainly was a hectic year, wouldn't you agree? We reached a crescendo here at That Gamer Hub, people grew wings and flew to greener pastures and we also saw the end of That Gamer Podcast. But out of these ashes rose two new podcasts (The Weekly Beat and Pangolin Sword), while Cross Border Gaming took the reigns and strode forward. While we might not be at the top of the hill we were during... more.
  • Final Fantasy XIII’s Combat and Other Musings

Early this spring I found myself knee deep in Final Fantasy XIII’s story and really starting to loosen up over the linearity of the rather beautiful and luscious areas these foul fated characters discover. Engrossed and constantly moving along, I found the combat to be an interesting take on the old formula. Keeping everything from Final Fantasy, while adding in new moves and abilities a... more.
  • Zombie Highway | Review (iOS)

If you give me zombies, I'm content. If you give me zombies that I can then zoom past and plaster all over the bonnet of my virtual SUV, well, you have my interest peaked. Zombie Highway is a small title on the iOS platform which combines zombie survival and your ability to dodge obstacles in a never faltering car and I have to say that it gets quite addictive. But does this addictive nature th... more.
  • Warhammer 40,000:Space Marine | Review (360)

In the current age of franchises leaping into the first person shooter genre and developers throwing beige slop against the walls to entice the hoards of Call of Duty and Halo addicts to come try their game, Relic turns in the opposite direction and stays true to what 40K established. I'm sure anyone who is familiar with the franchise will undoubtedly have wished, "I would really, re... more.
  • Battle High: San Bruno | Review (XBLIG)

Battle High: San Bruno is another entrant in the now returned fighting genre, but how exactly does it fare with the increasing standards for kicking the living hell out of each other with a bunch of weirdos? While a basic premise holds the rather lame characters together, it takes inspiration from every other fighting game in which they all want something and it just so happens, one ... more.
