  • Musings of a Compulsive Game Buyer

I never used to buy collector’s or limited editions of games. That changed this week. I never used to pre-order games either. That policy went out the door last fall. It used to be that I waited months after a game was released before I bought it, possibly with all the DLC bundled with it. So what changed? Several things. For starters, sequels make up a large portion of new releases and, if I li... more.
  • Dark Scavenger | Review (PC)

For me to have any interest in playing a basic, point-and-click adventure game, it has to do everything right. If the writing is poor or the environment is bland, I quickly lose interest and move on to something else. Over the past week I’ve played Dark Scavenger each night before I went to bed for about an hour or two, and the fact that I’m still playing it means they did everything right. He... more.
  • So You Need a Reason to Return to Just Cause 2…

Do you remember your first trip to the island of Panau? Back in 2010, Avalanche Studios created a game called Just Cause 2, and it was unlike anything we had ever seen. Sure, there had been open world games before, but this was the first one to let you attach a soldier to a helicopter and fly away. It was a hit, and soon garnered a huge fan base, although probably not for its voice acting, which s... more.

After 25 years out of the game, Kid Icarus as a franchise feels like it never even existed. Especially because the original 1987 game wasn’t very good, all things considered. So I’m sure you wonder, what place does Kid Icarus Uprising even have in modern games? Is this just some other game with a Kid Icarus coat of paint on it, kind of like Star Fox Adventures? Well let me give you my short-r... more.
  • Have Small Hands? This May Be The Controller For You.

I have small hands. Child-sized hands. Kids medium glove sized hands. And while they may look cute (or creepy, depending on your viewpoint), they aren't really conducive for gaming. Think about it. You need a fairly decent hand span to be able to accurately and effectively press all the buttons on today's controllers. Can't reach the end of the joystick? You die. Have trouble stretching your finge... more.
  • Asura’s Wrath | Review (PS3)

Asura’s Wrath is a game that is unlike anything I have ever seen before. An interesting new IP from Capcom, Asura’s Wrath takes you through the tale of a demigod’s revenge, and his wrath. A lot of wrath. Early footage of Asura’s Wrath made it seem like some kind of crazy interactive cutscene, but it so much more than that. Its an experience, and its one I won’t soon forget. The game... more.

Author's Note:  ***Let me preface this by saying this post did comment that the From Ashes DLC was on the disc, but that has since been proven wrong, so those remarks have been removed from the post. Everything else has stayed the same, but it should be mentioned that the PC version of Mass Effect 3 does already contain the DLC, but access is blocked to the player until purchase.** People are ... more.
