BGotW: SRL

I enjoy games that give me an emotion. One of the reasons I think Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Dead Space 2 are great games (that I have never played and will not) is that they instill an emotion in me (being fear) and that’s a pretty neat feeling. It’s a pretty cool thing that a machine and a bunch of interactive dots on a screen can do that and even more so that someone designed t... more. -

Since John took my spot the other week to showcase the excellent browser game Interstellar Marines, I said I'd fill in this week (plus, he's no doubt still recovering from his amazing PAX coverage last weekend!) At first, I wasn't sure what game to go for. Should I go arty this week, as last week was all about the addictive twitchiness, or follow on from last week with more "low brow... more. -
BGotW: Robot Unicorn Attack and CANABALT

This week I thought I'd try something different and bring you 2 incredibly addictive games that use the same mechanics, yet remain totally different. Both games follow the same basic formula - your character cannot stop running, and it's your job to leap through or over any obstacles in your path. Although this basic principle is the same across both games, the execution and styles of each ti... more. -

I'm going to take a bit of a different take on this week's BGotW. For one, the game is not out yet. Two, you'll probably have to pay a bit to play it when it does come out. Three, this game has by far the highest quality and depth of any game I've presented before. Oh, I also stole that other guy's turn in our BGotW rotation... but whatevs. Interstellar Marines by Zero Point looks pretty darn g... more. -
BGotW: Coma

Released in 2010, Coma is a wonderful game based around exploration, something of which I truly enjoy. Taking roughly 15 minutes, you control the character “Pete” and guide him through his endeavors. The few puzzles that you’ll encounter are not too demanding, though paying attention at key times will most definitely aid your cause. For some, including myself, Coma may contain an “eerie... more. -
BGotW: I Can Hold My Breath Forever

It's been a busy week, so I decided to root around my various bookmark folders to see if there are any browser game gems sitting in hiding. While digging through the assortment of Tower Defense games and 2D beat 'em ups (which will no doubt make a show in the coming weeks) I stumbled across an old, dusty folder marked "Dissertation". Hidden within said folder, among the miscellaneous wiki pages ... more. -
Browser Game of the Week: High Tea

I am a fan of history. I know my fair share of certain parts of the world and also admit that I know nothing about others (didn’t a horse become the Emperor of Rome for a bit? I’m serious). Two areas of the world that have kept my interest over the years are the histories of eastern Asia and Britannia and wouldn’t you know it, there’s a game that pertains to both of them during the mid 19t... more.
