Having been around for a little while already, Smudged Cat’s Gateways has been more-or-less on my radar for the past few months. It’s 2D Portal-like platforming mechanic intrigued me for the most part, but I was still unsure if it would live up to what it was aspiring to be. After having clocked in around 8 to 10 hours into it, I can garantee you that it indeed is a great game. *Please note... more.

When I first saw the name of the third title in the Indie Games Uprising 3 (Diehard Dungeon from tricktale), I must say that I was very skeptical. I thought that the game would be yet another dungeon crawler with standard elements and an over-simplified system without much depth to it. Oh was I wrong...     Diehard Dungeon is a dungeon crawler game with heavy roguelike elements. You... more.

As it is the case with every video game promotion, there are some great games as well as some less awesome titles. Unfortunately, the Indie Games Uprising 3 promotion is no exception, even with such a great start. Sententia (from Michael Arts) is what I would consider a weird choice for the promotion’s selection. Let me explain my disappointment.     Sententia is a platformer ... more.

Shortly before joining the TGH team, I embarked on a long but great Indie Games trip which made me play many forgotten gems on PC and the Xbox LIVE Indie Games platforms. Amongst the games that grabbed my attention, Hermitgames’s Leave Home was one of my favourites (to be honest, it is my #1 Xbox LIVE Indie Game). The studio is back to kick off the Indie Games Uprising 3 promotion with another g... more.

In my gaming life, the original Counter-Strike had a number of firsts in my life. It was probably the inaugural first-person shooter that I've actually played, it was the first game that I had played online, and it was probably the first (and only) FPS game that I was ever good att. That however, was many years ago. I thought I had moved onto greener pastures after my long stint where playing wha... more.

If you’re sick of playing games in the same old settings doing the same old things, then you might want to pay attention to United Front Game’s Sleeping Dogs. The story follows an undercover cop named Wei Shen, who is your typical expert martial arts master that can fight twelve guys at once and win. His assignment involves infiltrating one of the Triad gangs, which he does fairly easily since... more.

If you’ve played through even a small part of Darksiders, you’ll know what I mean when I say that it’s not a game you play for the story. Even after playing through the original game three times, I’m still not entirely sure about what happened. What I am sure of, though, is how awesome it is to play as a badass horseman, and that’s why Darksiders 2 is such a fun and addictive game. The c... more.
